FPS Ambassadors

Tessa Avery

Meet Tessa. She is a rocket ship on a bike, smart enough to build a rocket ship and about the sweetest, most kind person you will ever meet.

Seriously. Who would make cupcakes for a person that is a race rival just because it is their birthday. Tessa did.

We are all so lucky to have her as an ambassador. Everybody needs Tess in their life.

Nickname : Tess

Describe your riding style in six words or less. Fun, fast, finesse and flow.

Who taught you to ride a bike? My dad.

What do you do when you are not riding?

When I’m rarely not riding my bike I’m at school, painting with watercolors, making cupcakes, surfing small waves (I’m really good at falling in ankle deep water😅), performing in theater productions, Nordic skiing (and racing), hiking the 4,000 footers of NH, and writing.

What did/do you want to be when you grow up?

When I grow up, I hope to be mountain biking somehow, whether that’s racing professionally, or just getting better. Aside from riding, I want to be able to make art for a living. Whether that’s interior design, graphic design, fashion design, I would be psyched to get to do anything with art.

If you could ride anywhere for a day where would it be and why?

If I could ride anywhere for a day, it would be somewhere in Colorado. Even though I’ve never been, I think it could be a really cool place to explore and I know there’s a ton of awesome riding out there.

The place you ride the most

I enjoy riding in a variety of places, but you’ll mostly find me on the trails. I do the majority of my riding/training in Amherst, NH at places called Grater woods and Horse hill. It’s a lot of punchy hills and a technical single track, which is really awesome, and especially fun for group rides.

Do you ever race?

Yes! I race the NEYC series (formerly known as NEHSCA), which are XC mountain bike races. Last year in addition, I tried CX which I hope to do more of, and get better at! The racing community is so positive and supportive, and I’m crazy lucky to have the opportunity to race.

Favorite spot to chill

My favorite place to chill is anywhere outside, whether that’s the mountains, or the ocean. I enjoy taking pictures of pretty places, and trying to paint them afterwards.
