How many times have you heard “You’ve gotta meet my friend”. That’s how our relationship with Frank and the whole Hwang family started. Parallel lives that finally intersected and the crew at First Push couldn’t be more stoked. Hey, you’ve gotta meet our friend Frank!

Nickname : Hoon

Describe your riding style in six words or less. Slow, technical, flow

Who taught you to ride a bike? My parents when I was like 3, my brother was a BMX rat, I remember him jumping stuff in the driveway on a handmade ramp, and I grew up in upstate NY where I started to be a roadie around 7th grade, and started mountain biking when it was a young thing in the early 90s, then I really got back into biking post college when we had a super fast black lab mix and I lived in Boston. Running him every day was not enough, and it was a great way to explore all the amazing trails around the area.

What do you do when you are not riding?

I’m a surfer, snowboarder, hiker, dad to two amazing children and two dogs, a husband to the best wife, I’m a CMO of a real estate company. I’m a big believer in brands and brand building.

What did/do you want to be when you grow up?

Pro backcountry skier like Scott Schimdt.

Would you be heard or seen first when riding on a trail?

Heard. I’m loud when I am excited.

Favorite spot to chill

The ocean in the winter or in the middle of the woods during a snowfall or right after with no one around.

If you could ride anywhere for a day where would it be and why?

New Zealand. I spent a bunch of time in college there for university and always wanted to go back. So cool. And such good people.

Do you ride alone or with friends?

Typically I ride alone, with a dog or our family. It’s great that the whole family shreds on bikes.
